About

Hi, I'm Sandi

You know those cliché stories of how a grandmother teaches her grandchild needlework, and that child grows up taking on that craft and reminisces about their grandmother up in heaven? Yeah, this is one of those stories.

In the mid-90s, when the Internet wasn't an extension of our limbs as it is today, I'd spend the summers with my grandmother, Nina, on the terrace learning how to knit and stitch. I hated it. Yeah, I really, really hated needlework. I never got it right; I was slipping stitches while knitting, and knotting up my work while sewing. After lots of blood, sweat, and buckets of tears, I finally started to show promise.

Here I am, 20+ years later, and I love needlecraft! With that being said, I do have days when I'm frustrated with my work - I still slip stitches while knitting, and I'll occasionally knot up the back of my work while sewing, but it's all part of the process. If it's one thing I keep saying over and over again, it's that there's no perfection in art.

When all is said and done, my love for needlework stemmed from my grandmother never giving up on me.

Nina, this is all for you.
